Compare transfers using the same total amount paid and the same receiving currency. Then check the amount expected to arrive, delivery conditions and possible extra deductions.

Write down four details

  1. Your total cost, including any separately charged fee.
  2. The amount and currency the recipient should receive.
  3. When the money is expected to become available.
  4. Any conditions, limits or charges not included in the estimate.

A provider with the lowest displayed fee is not automatically the cheapest. The exchange rate can make a larger difference than the fee, especially for a bigger transfer.

Use a fair comparison

Suppose your full budget is 500 GBP. Offer A converts it at 1.20 USD per GBP with no separate fee, giving 600 USD. Offer B deducts 5 GBP first and converts 495 GBP at 1.22, giving 603.90 USD. In this invented example, B delivers more despite charging a fee.

Compare the same payment route

A bank-funded transfer and a card-funded transfer may have different costs. Cash pickup and a bank deposit can also have different terms. Compare like with like before deciding that one headline quote is better.

Ask about deductions along the way

An intermediary or receiving institution may deduct charges on some routes. Ask what the displayed receive amount includes and whether any extra deductions could reduce it. Rules and disclosure requirements depend on the countries, provider and transaction; do not assume a consumer protection rule from one country applies worldwide.

Check the details before sending

  • Confirm the recipient's name and account details through a trusted channel.
  • Check the destination currency and account type.
  • Read how long the quoted rate remains valid.
  • Keep the payment receipt and provider contact details.

Use 500 GBP to USD or 500 USD to MXN to understand the reference value. CurrencyCalc does not send money or recommend a transfer provider.

Common questions

Is the fastest transfer always best?

Only if its speed, cost and conditions suit your need. An urgent arrival can matter, but a speed label may have funding or verification conditions.

Will the recipient get exactly the calculator result?

No promise is made. The provider's final quote, fees and any applicable deductions determine the actual amount.
